JEE-Mains Conducted Across Country Amidst The New Normal

JEE Mains exam conducted in India

Recently the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains was conducted throughout the country. It was the first large scale examination that happened in the midst of the coronavirus. Over 9 lakh candidates have registered for the JEE-Mains exam for admission to engineering courses in IITs, NITs, and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). NTA and IITs have followed all the necessary measures in the view of COVID 19.

Let’s have a look into these measures:

NTA arranged staggered entry and exit for candidates, distributed sanitisers and masks at the gate, and ensured social distancing as candidates queued up.

NTA also ensured the availability of hand sanitisers are being made available at the entrance of the examination centre and inside the exam hall at all times. The usual process of checking the admit cards of candidates was replaced with barcode readers, which were made available to the examination centre authorities to reduce the surface touch.

While all the candidates were asked to come to the exam centres with masks and sanitisers, once they entered the centre, they were provided masks by the examination authority. Each candidate was offered a 3-ply mask at the time of entry and expected to wear the same during the examination in order to avoid any form of unfair means at the time of examination.

The exam was divided into two shifts. The first shift of the exam began at 9:30 A.M. while the second shift will begin from 2:30 P.M. . Before the start of each exam shift and after the last shift ends, all seats were thoroughly sanitised and the workstations and keyboards were disinfected to provide students a clean surface to give exams on.

The number of examination centers was increased, alternate seating plans, fewer candidates per room, and staggered entry and exit were among the steps the National Testing Agency had taken for safely conducting the crucial exam.

While the governments of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh assured students that they will provide transportation to candidates, a group of IIT alumni and students had also launched a portal to provide transport facilities to exam centres for the candidates in need.

With the rising voices of IIT and Medical exam NEET being postponed, NTA has proved that exams can be conducted safely in the midst of COVID 19 as well. All you need is an advanced examination technology that allows you to conduct exams as per the given guidelines by WHO and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

And as IIT Mains is done, it is the turn of NEET, even a bigger exam to be conducted on 13th September. Stay tuned with our blogs to know more.
